Nunuk Ragang

Nunuk Ragang is closely related in the opening pages of history associated with the Kadazan community. Through some research done by some researchers of culture, uncovering the origins of Kadazan community. Kadazan community believe that their ancestors originated from a place called Nunuk Ragang which means "red fig tree". The place is located in an area upstream Labuk that at present located in the district of Ranau.

Nunuk Ragang said to have two streams of the River and River Gelibang Liwagu. These rivers flow eastward Ranau and Tambunan. These rivers play an important role as the main mass transfer Kadazan community to a wider place in the State.

According to sources in the oral tradition derived from the Kadazan community itself, or banyan tree is within the hands of six fathom that embraces, lush leaves were able to protect the underneath of seven small huts of old Kadazan community the size of 240 square feet .

At first, their ancestors live free and enjoy the bountiful around them. But over time when people in the place and grew more and more crowded and even more difficult foraging, their chief ordered the soldiers to go wandering and looking for new residential areas that are more suitable and have more food sources.

Following the adventures of warriors do this, they finally have found a variety of places and goes on to describe the discovery that they have acquired. Thus, there was a mass migration and the number of groups led by the warriors of yesteryear as well as being the cause of the separation and dispersal of people Kadazan as existing at the present time.

In fact, when viewed from the context of the community, Ragang Nunuk this is a sign of the emergence of ethnic Kadazan of Sabah and indirectly makes this so unique culture all.
