Economic growth in the country has produced many members of the successful businesses in their own field   they all be an example to the community to strive to improve and take the liberty to join  business.I very interested in Syed Mokhtar Ai Bukhary.Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar was born in Alor Setar, Kedah in 1951. His family originated from Hadhramaut, Yemen. Before deciding to settle in Kedah, his father traveled to Central Asia to trade. Next, his father to Thailand. In the mid 40's, then the father Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar decided to settle in Alor Setar, Kedah. In 1946, his father married.Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar has seven siblings and he is the third. Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar live in poor conditions so that wooden house located in the village of Forest Keriang not have a bed, table or chair. This caused him difficult to study.

Even so, every happening is certainly quite favorable. The situation also prompted her to start the free tuition as a welfare program under al-Bukhary Foundation established to contribute to the charity. They sell it at the market in Jalan Telok Wan Jah. He also sells roti canai in the same market.

After school hours, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar help shepherd his pet in quarantine center near the train station Alor Setar. He gained much knowledge and experience while doing the work.Begin trading,In the 1970's, his father's cattle business decline following the outbreak of foot and mouth. The epidemic has spread to Southern Thailand, Kedah and Perlis. All livestock die down. Since then, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar took over his father's business and made the decision to no longer engage in farming. He began selling beef on a small scale.

Actually, he went from town to town around Alor Setar to buy unsold meat. He then wrap the meat with ice and sell it back to Bumiputera businessmen and restaurants around Alor Setar. He was successful in business. The success of his confidence to progress in the business world.From the business of selling meat, he shifted to a transport business. In 1972, he managed to get a permit for a four lorries Class A. He gets assistance loan of RM110, 000 from the MARA he used to buy two Mercedes lorries 911LS.

In fact, a Chinese businessman offering a sum of money for the remaining two permits are not used. Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar refused and submit the permit back to the Mara. After buying two lorries, Tan Sri Syed open transportation company named Transport Company and appointed clerk Sentosa Chinese as the company manager.Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar-lorinya lorry to start rice business. Company Vehicle Sentosa still exists to this day and has more than 40 trucks.Establish a company,In 1974, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar buy a first home store in Jalan Telok Wan Jah under a hire purchase agreement with the UDA or Urban Development Corporation.

Next, in 1975, he established the company and apply for a trading license Shah rice from National Rice Board which is now known as Bernas. Gee Ghiak are rice traders while Tan Chong rice millers.

In a joint venture, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar holds 52 per cent stake while Ghiak Gee and Chong Tan respectively 32 percent and 16 percent. Business venture, named Bukhary Sdn. Limited. commenced operations on July 15, 1976, at his office in Jalan Telok Wan Jah.
